After a far-too-long period of intermittent hiatus, my online comic The Circle Weave returned this month… and then disappeared again. I really am trying to keep to a regular schedule, and the new episode, #115, is underway. Keep checking the CW Site for updates on its progress. I’ll also be putting together a cover for the new chapter, and some desktop pictures to go along with it.

Meanwhile, the Abalone Press site will be undergoing a minor overhaul, as it becomes more of a personal site for me to post my blog of various projects, including the 8-Bit Tarot, the Stumptown Comics Fest, and of course, the comics and games. Look for changes in the first half of 2006!

Check this out! My proof copy of The Circle Weave: ATAG Volume I finally arrived! Now, this is the copy with the messed up page numbers, so it’s not exactly the same as having the final copy to look at, but it’s a great sample of the color quality and production values of the finished piece. And as those particular aspects go, I think this book looks phenomenal! The colors are true to the online versions, and the resolution is perfect – none of the detail is lost! Even if you’re familiar with the online comic, you will see things in this edition that you never noticed before!

A new proof is being printed as I type this, hopefully without anything getting cut off the edge, and if all is well with that proof, I should have my first order in sometime in the next couple weeks. Until then, you’re welcome to read this thread at the Circle Weave forum to check out some more pictures!

Two new prints from the Circle Weave Covers series have just been added to the Abalone Press Store. The recently released design for the cover of Chapter One shows Rowan and Springheels fleeing a small group of Carrion Knights while flaming arrows explode all around them in this climactic scene from Flight From Khandell. And the cover image of the currently ongoing chapter, A Test Of Fate, shows Rowan wielding a sword in a swirling haze, while a great, menacing shadow approaches through the swamp over his shoulder. Each print is available as a limited edition laser print for only $15.00 each.

But that’s not all! As a special holiday bonus, you can purchase copies of all four of the prints in a set for only $40.00! That’s a full 1/3 off the regular price. You just can’t go wrong! See, if you only have four friends, you can buy one set, give each person one print, and voila! Your holiday shopping is done in one stop! Talk about convenience! If you have more than four friends, pick up some of our graphic novels or other posters! Go pick them up right now at the Abalone Press Prints Store!

you can preorder copies of my upcoming trade paperbacks, Chutney Point and The Circle Weave, Volume 1 starting in just a couple weeks. Consider it a pledge drive to help me get down to the San Diego Comicon this year! Every book you buy now helps me get that much closer to a table in the small press alley.

In the coming weeks I’ll also be auctioning off numbered editions of the Chutney Point trade paperbacks paired with a matching page of original art from the series. A few of these are already spoken for, but there’s still more than 150 pages to choose from! Watch this space for updates on the drive. Please don’t make me have to stay home again this year!

That’s right! After years of trucking boxes and boxes of my old comics around, I’ve decided that it’s time to clean house once and for all. So I intend to stop selling my old comics and remove them from the store. When I do, I’ll also be destroying all the copies of those comics that I still have in my possession. With the new Circle Weave Online going strong, I find that the old issues are best left in the past, if for nothing else than to alleviate confusion. So, with the upcoming release of the new trade paperback, I’ll be sweeping the last remnants of the old series away. These issues will be available for a limited time, just until the book is released, which I hope will be able to debut at the San Diego Comicon in July. After that the old print issues will no longer be available for sale.

Likewise, with the Chutney Point trade paperback right on the verge of being available, I plan to discontinue sale of the individual issues of that series as well. I’ve run out of issue 2 again already, in the hopes of selling more of the complete sets. I’ll be bringing them with me to the Olympia Comics Festival next month, but after that all remaining issues of Chutney Point will also be destroyed.

Early Wednesday morning, Roman Countryman’s psychic sixth toe leads him to a dead body in the woods behind his store. By the time the skeptical police swing by to take a look, however, the body is gone! By the end of the night, the body has been found again, and Roman has been pulled toe-first into an absurdist murder-mystery! Join Roman, his girlfriend Nanette, and Linda, niece of the freshly-deceased Lighthouse owner Perry Winkle as they set out to answer some serious questions:

Who killed Linda’s Uncle?
Who stole Roman’s psychic toe?
How is Roman’s brother Julian involved in all of it?
Are the Chutney Twins really psychic?
How DOES that dog talk, anyway?

Chutney Point is a 152-page graphic-novel-in-progress, written and drawn by Matthew Kelleigh. Issues 1-6 are now available for $1.50 each, ppd.

Act 6: The Fisherman’s Key is the latest installment of Chutney Point. With only one more act to go before the Final Curtain, now is the perfect time to jump into the story!

Linda, Nanette, and Roman, having been captured at gunpoint by Roman’s brother Julian, find some time to study the stone slab recently uncovered in the basement of the Lighthouse. Julian is off to show the inscription on the slab to his boss, the twisted Dr. Imbrium, Mad Scientist At Large, but not before again reducing the number of active-duty police officers. Freeing themselves, and with Nanette’s solution to the Slab’s numeric code, the heroes are off to find The Fisherman’s Key! As the Chutney Twins would say, “Can the climax be far off?”

Chutney Point #7 is expected to be a full 32 pages, available by the end of the year 2000. Keep an eye on this space for further information.
